Dog Breed Focus – The Affenpinscher

This cheeky little dog was originally bred to be a ratter and started off taller than they are now.

Originating in Germany, their nickname is the Monkey Dog (Affen being the German word for Monkey)!

Over the years their size has been reduced and they are more likely to be found as a companion dog.  But don’t expect them to be a lapdog as they have retained their feisty terrier side.

  • Suitable for smaller homes
  • Alert, loyal, attentive
  • Low shedding coat
